Ana Lydia has over 17 years’ experience working in the promotion of gender equity and women and girls´ rights. Director of the organisation Opcionate -Mejora tu vida. Mejora el Mundo (Make Your Choice, Improve your life, Improve the world), she works to promote gender equality, social justice, institutional change and personal and collective empowerment through research, training, therapy, policy analysis, advocacy, project management and evaluation at the international and national level in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America.
Ana Lydia was the Spanish Representative of WIDE (Women in Development Europe) at European and International level monitoring European Commission and United Nation processes for over 5 years (UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), Beijing +10 and Beijing +15, EC Conferences and Meetings).
She has worked as a Consultant for governmental, non governmental and academic institutions in Spain and abroad and she has participated in several UN Women missions on project evaluation, research, policy making and training. She has taught gender and development at postgraduate level at a number of Spanish Universities.
