Ngonidzashe Makwindi

Ngonidzashe Makwindi is a tourism academic, researcher and development practitioner with extensive experience in higher education. He holds a PhD in Cultural and Heritage Tourism and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Sustainable Development in Sweden. With over fifteen years of experience as lecturer and researcher in Southern Africa, Ngonidzashe has contributed to curriculum development, research governance, and academic leadership through his service on university research and faculty curriculum committees. His scholarly work focuses on community-based tourism, cultural heritage, and the role of tourism in advancing the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with several peer-reviewed publications addressing livelihoods, inclusion and local community empowerment.

Beyond academia, Ngonidzashe brings strong practical experience in tourism consultancy, project management and capacity building, having worked with hospitality stakeholders and communities in the region. His professional interests lie at the intersection of tourism, equity, sustainability and social justice, with a particular focus on inclusive development, cultural preservation and ethical tourism practices. As an Associate of Equality in Tourism International, he is committed to advancing gender equality, diversity and fair participation within the tourism sector through research, project management, advocacy and knowledge sharing.
